Brīvprātīgā no Latvijas darbojas Rumānijā!
After coming back from the Christmas holidays, the volunteers started again with the weekly workshops at the special schools and institutions such as Sf. Vasile, Beethoven, Sf. Mina, Autism centre, where they involved the students and the children mostly in art and crafts activities in order to foster their creativity and their hand-eye coordination; and at the local high schools such as Henri Coanda, Matei Basarab, Gheorghe Chitu, where the volunteers engaged the students in several activities and non-formal games facing different topics and, at the same time, trying to improve their English knowledge.
Starting from January, moreover, a new V grade class from Energetic high school was included in the weekly schedule of the volunteers, who had to implement activities there focused specifically on environmental topics.
The volunteers also had an exchange experience with other ESC volunteers from FITT organisation in Timisoara. Firstly, a group of five volunteers from ACT for CHANGE went to Timisoara for about five days to find out how their colleagues work and organise their activities within their own project; afterwards the volunteers from FITT were hosted in Craiova, where they took part in the workshops and in the office meetings of ACT for CHANGE and, all together, the volunteers created and implemented two events which took place on the 1st of February in Beethoven and Henri Coanda high schools about solidarity and social inclusion. The participants had the occasion and the joy to play getting to know each other games like Bingo but also to show and develop their skills through active games like: being blindfold trust game, bowling or creating the highest tower out of paper cup. All the participants had fun and most importantly they created friendships and learned that we are all the same and different as well and that we should respect. You can check the video of the event:
The volunteers, as foreseen by the project, also in this period of time had Romanian lessons twice a week, an office meeting per week in order to schedule the following week activities, individual mentoring sessions and group mentoring sessions about teamwork, group dynamics and YouthPass. In addition, the former volunteers started to write the project brochure, telling about their experiences.
